COERR Mae Sot Organized Karen Dress Weaving for Needy Students

   The Karen backstrap Weaving is quite unique and last for over a hundred years. This traditional method can produce many kinds of clothing such as blouses, skirts, bags, woven scarf, etc.

   COERR Mae Sot appreciated the Karen backstrap weaving skills of the villagers and had organized the Karen dress weaving workshop aiming at enabling the Karen youth to learn and practice the Karen dress weaving with backstrap loom and sharing the traditional Karen clothes woven by the youth to the needy students who could not afford buying school uniform, to wear on school days as well as to preserve and pass on the Karen dress weaving tradition to the new younger generation.

   The Karen dress weaving workshop was held at Ban Nu Pho Temporary Shelter, Umphang District, Tak province during July 23-31, 2021 for 50 participants of 37 females and 13 males.
